Plainfield South alumna finishes semester with perfect GPA

Mary Stein is a Plainfield South graduate attending Michigan State University. She made the dean’s list with a 4.0 GPA. She is part of the James Madison College for Political Science.

Plainfield Central alumna receives research fellowship

Kathryn Strand, a 2019 graduate of Plainfield Central High School, received her Honors Bachelor's of Biomedical Engineering from University of Delaware. This past spring, she was also awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She will attend the University of Pennsylvania starting this fall to pursue her PhD in Bioengineering.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi inducts new members from Plainfield

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

• Martha Kern of Plainfield (60544) at University of Alabama at Birmingham
• Kaitlyn Pitt of Plainfield (60544) at Northern Illinois University
• TeQuila Stamps of Plainfield (60585) at Northern Illinois University
• Andrew Wojnarowski of Plainfield (60586) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale

They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Plainfield student inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society

The University of Kentucky chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society inducted 445 new members during the spring 2023 semester. The chapter's induction ceremony was held in the W. T. Young Auditorium. Among them is Plainfield resident Hailey Grispo, a student in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Celebrating academic excellence among first-year students, Alpha Lambda Delta's chapter has been active on UK's campus since 1940. There are more than 280 chapters of Alpha Lambda Delta nationally and the society has initiated more than 1 million students. The Spring 2023 induction class is the largest in UK's chapter history.

Student from Plainfield completes semester abroad at University of Dallas Rome Campus

With the school year coming to a close, Plainfield's Daisy Trujillo, a student at the University of Dallas, has completed a semester to remember.

Trujillo spent the Spring semester studying abroad at UD's campus in Italy. During the Rome trip, a fundamental part of the UD undergraduate experience, "Romers" see for themselves the settings of the classic texts they've read for the Core Curriculum. Trujillo and other students lodged at UD's Due Santi campus for the semester, intermittently traveling around the Mediterranean to recite Sophocles in the theaters where his tragedies were performed, admire Michelangelo in St. Peter's basilica and follow in the footsteps of Aeneas carrying his heritage from Troy.

Students from Plainfield named to dean’s list at Bob Jones University

The following students are among approximately 800 Bob Jones University students named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2023 semester.

The Dean's List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

McKendree University 2023 grads include Plainfield students

McKendree University congratulates its Class of 2023 graduates on their achievements!

The university is conferring 551 degrees in 2023 -- 31 doctoral, 155 master's, 351 bachelor's, 14 specialist and four associate degrees -- on students who completed their program requirements in December 2022, and in May and July 2023. A total of 103 students graduated with Latin honors (pending final grades for the spring and summer terms): 18 summa cum laude, 46 magna cum laude and 39 cum laude. The McKendree University Class of 2023 hails from 30 states and 20 countries and territories.

Plainfield native graduates from Trine University

Colin Nicoski of Plainfield completed the requirements for a degree from Trine University at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.

Nicoski earned a degree in Civil Engineering at Trine.
