The 4th annual COMMUNITY 5K Race takes place Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Settlers’ Park in Plainfield. The family-friendly run/walk is designed to bring families together to support NewThing, a mission of Community Christian Church; NewThing trains leaders to plant reproducing churches and currently supports over 100 churches around the world. NewThing’s mission is to be “a catalyst for movements of reproducing churches relentlessly dedicated to helping people find their way back to God.”

The COMMUNITY 5K Race route is flat and fast, winding through the park and around Ira Jones Middle School, ending at Settlers’ Park Pavilion.

“It’s a great first race for beginners and a fun run for more experienced runners,” says Race Director Kelly Chapman. The race starts in Settlers’ Park in downtown Plainfield, 24403 W Lockport St. The kids’ 1K begins at 7:45 AM, and the adults’ 5K begins at 8:00 AM. The cost for kids to participate in the 1K is $20; cost for adults to participate in the 5K is $30. Registration is now open online at www.community5k.org.
