Confirmed Number Of Coronavirus Cases Rises To 13 In Plainfield
On a weekend when the confirmed cases of coronavirus jumped significantly across Illinois, Plainfield saw its local tally jump by five.
PLAINFIELD, IL – The Plainfield Police Department announced on Monday that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus has risen by five since Saturday and is now at 13. Due to HIPAA regulations, the department can't provide any other information and will continue to update the numbers as it receives the information. A department spokesman said on Monday morning that the exact number of cases locally can be difficult to report as there are often delays in when the village receives the newest numbers from the state or local agencies.
As of Monday, the police department is unaware of any coronavirus-related deaths in Plainfield, the spokesman said. On Sunday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced 1,105 new cases across the state since Saturday alone and that he expects the number of diagnosed cases to spike by mid-April. As of Pritzker's announcement on Sunday, there are 4,596 known cases across Illinois and 65 people have died.
