PLAINFIELD, IL — Road work will begin at the intersection of Illinois Route 126 and County Line Road starting Sept. 27, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

County Line Road, between Route 126 and Renwick Road, will be fully closed to complete the improvements. On Route 126, lanes will be reduced to 11 feet. The construction includes reconstructing and widening the existing intersection, realigning County Line Road and installing a new traffic signal and guardrail. The road will also be resurfaced and new pavement markings will be added.

A detour will direct drivers to Drauden and Caton Farm roads, and access to local businesses and residences will remain during construction.
