Cub Scout Pack 90 is Community-Involved

Cub Scout Pack 90 is involved in the community and is having a sign up event on July 28 at the Plainfield Library in the large meeting room

Cub Scout Pack 90, chartered by the Plainfield Historical Society, has lent a helping hand at the site marked the first Wheatland Township Plowing Match, on 119th Street, just east of Route 59.  Pack 90 helped plant three trees on the site and donated one of the trees as a community service project.  The site has two monuments that mark the location of the Plow Match held on September 22, 1877.  At Plow Matches, farmers could demonstrate their talents in a competition setting as to who could plow the straightest and most uniform lines; keeping in mind that this was done with a horse drawn plow.  The Plow Matches became somewhat of a county fair, attracting thousands of people.  Other typical events included were colt and chicken shows, baseball games, a Women’s Fair exhibiting cooking and sewing talents, carnival booths, airplane rides, and farm equipment displays.

Cub Scout Pack 90 is proud to be chartered by the Plainfield Historical Society, and is looking for boys, first through fifth grade, to join Cub Scouts.  Cub Scouting is about having fun, but with a purpose.  The family-based program teaches values, the importance of community service, leadership, self-confidence and just having great, fun experiences with friends.  If you think you might be interested, come visit us at the Plainfield Public Library (not a sponsor) to learn more about our Pack 90, on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, 6:30-8:00 pm, in the large meeting room.  Come to downtown Plainfield, enjoy the Cruise Night and stop by to sign up your son with Pack 90.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
