Culver's Fundraiser To Help Plainfield Family

A portion of proceeds will benefit the family of John Vanderhoek, who died last month after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Culver’s of Plainfield, 13449 S. Route 59, will donate 30 percent of sales to raise funds for the Vanderhoek Family between 3 and 10 p.m. Monday, May 21. In April, 41-year-old husband and father John E. Vanderhoek lost a hard-fought battle with a cancer that had spread and progressed beyond effective treatment when it was diagnosed early in 2017.

Funds raised at the Culver's event will go to the family to assist in meeting the financial challenges facing John’s wife, Andi, and their four young children. The Vanderhoek family are longtime residents of Plainfield and their story has touched so many others.

"When we were approached with this idea by Mike and Meredith Feminis, friends of the Vanderhoek's, we were honored to help in any way we could," said Culver's owner Chrissy McCroskey. "We are proud to be a part of the Plainfield community and we hope that this event will assist in allowing the Vanderhoek family focus on each other through this tough time."
