Dead Body Found on I-290 Identified as Plainfield Man
Police believe the man was the victim of a hit-and-run.

A dead body found along I-290 near Wolf Road close to Hillside has been identified as a 22-year-old Plainfield man, according to The Herald-News, and police believe the man was the victim of a hit-and-run.

Lashawn D. Williams, of Plainfield, was walking on the eastbound lane of I-290 when he was hit. Police are unsure if he was crossing the interstate or walking on the shoulder, according to the report.

The Illinois State Police is classifying the incident as a hit-and-run until they can find more information on the circumstances leading up to the incident. Authorities are searching for whoever may have been involved, (Illinois State Police Sgt. Dominick) Falcone said.
Williams was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 3:36 p.m. Monday.

The body was found Monday afternoon and police shut down the eastbound lanes of I-290 during rush hour. Traffic was diverted off at the Mannheim Road exit just before 6 p.m., resulting in lengthy delays.
A phone message left with the Illinois State Police was not immediately returned Tuesday.
