District 202 Spokesman Earns State Recognition
Director of Community Relations Thomas Hernandez was honored by the Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) named District 202 Director of Community Relations Thomas Hernandez as its Distinguished Communicator at its annual Distinguished Service Awards luncheon on May 11, 2018.
Hernandez has been working for District 202 since 2006. He oversees districtwide communications and serves as community liaison and district spokesman.
“Tom is a tireless advocate for District 202 in the seven towns and two counties it serves,” wrote District 202 Superintendent Dr. Lane Abrell in the nomination letter.

“I truly believe in public education and am proud and humbled to be recognized by my peers,” Hernandez said.
Each year INSPRA honors individuals and teams for their work in the school public relations field.

Thirty-three individual and teams were recognized this year in categories including administrator, board of education member, community member, faculty/certified staff, parent, support staff and team.
INSPRA’s mission is to provide a source of connection, collaboration and professional development for school communicators to strengthen support for Illinois public schools.
