Everybody who lived at the home made it out safely however, the family's dog was critically injured, he said.

The dog is now being treated at the animal veterinary clinic on Route 59. The fire was reported at 4:08 p.m. when one of the teenagers came home heard the smoke alarms going off and noticed the smoke. The Plainfield Fire Department was notified and fire engines responded quickly, Stratton said. Firefighters had the blaze extinguished within about 10 minutes.

Firefighters believe the dryer was where the fire originated, fortunately, the door to the laundry room had been shut, which prevented the flames from spreading into the walls and the rest of the house.
