Driver, 85, Mistakenly Accelerates, Smashes Into Hair Cuttery: Cops

The driver crashed into the Plainfield hair salon as stylists were cutting clients' hair Thursday afternoon.

PLAINFIELD, IL — An 85-year-old driver smashed into the Hair Cuttery in Plainfield Thursday after mistakenly putting the car in drive rather than in reverse, according to police.

The crash, involving a red Honda Accord, happened at about 2:49 p.m. at the hair salon, 13400 S. Route 59.

Plainfield firefighters and paramedics treated and received refusals from several people on the scene. One salon employee was taken to Edward-Elmhurst Health Center in Plainfield with non-life-threatening injuries, police told Patch.

The driver was uninjured, officials said.
