Driver Uninjured In Crash That Snapped Telephone Pole: Plainfield PD

The driver "experienced a distraction from inside the vehicle" and veered off the road before hitting the telephone pole Friday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A telephone pole on Indian Boundary Line Road toppled after a red Dodge minivan crashed into it Friday morning, police said. No one in the car was injured.

Plainfield police officers and firefighters responded to the crash just after 11 a.m. Friday after receiving a call about the single-car crash.

Following an investigation, officials determined the Dodge was driving northeast on Indian Boundary Road, east of Willow Drive, when the driver "experienced a distraction from inside the vehicle" and veered off the road before hitting the telephone pole, which snapped at ground level, police said.

The minivan was towed from the scene. No power outage occurred because of the crash, according to Sergeant Luke Ostreko.

Indian Boundary Line Road was closed between Willow Drive and Lockport Street until ComEd arrived to secure the telephone pole — about 12:45 p.m., according to police's Facebook post — officials said.
