PLAINFIELD, IL — A 42-year-old Plainfield man was given nine citations, including driving under the influence of alcohol, after two crashes Friday afternoon, according to Plainfield police.

The first crash happened near the intersection of Bussey and Timberview drives when the driver hit a parked car, pushing it into a nearby mailbox. After fleeing the scene, the man, identified as Christopher G. Cizmar, crashed again, this time hitting a tree in a parkway near the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Winding Creek Road, officials said.

The man attempted to flee again — this time on foot — before police located him at about 4:33 p.m. in the 23000 block of Arbor Creek Drive.

Plainfield police responded to the area after receiving a report of a crash involving a driver, who was possibly armed with a knife, attempting to flee the scene. There, officers found Cizmar involved in a physical altercation with at least four others. He matched the physical description of the driver who had fled the scene of the crash, according to multiple witnesses, police said.

After officers ordered everyone to stop fighting, Cizmar began walking away and ignored several verbal commands to stop, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch.
