Edward Diabetes Center expands, opens offices in Plainfield, Yorkville

The Edward Diabetes Center has opened two new offices – 24600 W. 127th St. in Plainfield, on the Edward Plainfield campus, and 76 W. Countryside Parkway in Yorkville. The Center also has an office in the Naperville Professional Building at 10 W. Martin Ave. in Naperville.

The Center provides education and medical nutritional therapy for children, teens and adults living with Type 1 or 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes or gestational diabetes. The goal is to improve diabetes control, prevent long-term complications and prevent hospitalization.

Edward has been an American Diabetes Association-recognized Diabetes Center since 2001. In 2012, Edward earned Joint Commission Disease-Specific Certification for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes care.

The Center’s staff is composed of certified diabetes educators, who are registered dietitians and registered nurses, specially trained and certified in the field of diabetes education. They provide counseling and education on the following topics for individuals living with diabetes:

· Type 1 diabetes: Adults, teens and children

· Pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes

· La Diabetes: Spanish diabetes education

· Managing diabetes during pregnancy: Gestational, type 1 or type 2 diabetes

· Gestational diabetes

· Insulin pump therapy

· Glucose sensor training

· Medical nutrition therapy

· Edward Wound Center: Specialized care for diabetic wound healing

The Center’s team works with each patient’s primary care physician, nurse practitioner and/or endocrinologist to develop a personalized plan of care for each individual’s needs and lifestyle.
