The Plainfield Park District will host its 2nd annual Fall Fishing Derby for kids from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at Van Horn Woods East, located on the Interstate 55 Frontage Road between Caton Farm Road and U.S. 30. The competition will be split into three age divisions: 3 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years and 9 to 13 years. Awards will be given to the winner of each age division for the longest fish. Cost is $11 for residents, $16.50 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Sept. 13. Registered participants will receive a goodie bag when they sign in and be entered into a raffle (winners must be present). Participants should bring their pole, bait and a bucket for their fish.
