Expect Gunshots During Battle Re-Enactment At Plainfield Central
Police are aware of the annual demonstration, according to the district.

PLAINFIELD, IL — If you're in the area of Plainfield High School - Central Campus on Friday morning, you can expect to hear loud gunshots during a World War II battle re-enactment. In an email to community members, District 202 Director of Community Relations Tom Hernandez said the re-enactment is an annual demonstration hosted by social studies teacher Steve Lamberti.
"Mr. Lamberti does similar programs about various war-related topics every year – usually one per semester – with the help of PHSCC alum Eric Percy and several others who do war re-enactments as a hobby," Hernandez said.
The re-enactment will take place each class period on Dec. 1 from about 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes an outdoor battle recreation with a semi-automatic rifle demonstration.

"The demonstrators will be shooting blanks," Hernandez said, adding that Plainfield police are aware of the program. "The demonstration is safe but the guns are very loud. ... This program is very popular and powerful (as you can imagine) with students, but it always draws concerns and confusion from residents in the area."
Plainfield police also alerted the community to the program with a Facebook post on Monday.
