Expect More Plainfield Police On Roads Ahead Of Halloween: Cops
Police also shared tips — including planning a safe way to get home before going to a party — to help residents during the Halloween season.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Halloween is right around the corner in Plainfield. With 17 days before some people's favorite holiday, the Police Department announced it'll be doing extra traffic enforcement starting Friday and going through Halloween.
"The Plainfield Police today reminded motorists of the dangers of impaired driving, particularly on Halloween when little ghouls and goblins are out in neighborhoods and on busy streets after dark," officials said in a news release.
On Halloween, Plainfield's trick-or-treating hours this year will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

As people celebrate Halloween at parties, officials are encouraging those who drink to designate a sober friend to help them get home.

- Plan a safe way to get home before you attend a party.
- Designate a sober driver, take public transportation, use your favorite ride-sharing service, or call a sober friend or family member to get home.
- Walking while impaired can be just as dangerous as driving impaired. Designate a sober friend to walk you home.
- If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact local law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so.
- If you see an impaired person about to drive, take their keys and help them get home safely.
- Buckle up: It's your best defense against impaired drivers.
Plainfield police said hundreds of people die from impaired-driving crashes each year in Illinois, and others face DUI charges, jail time and fines.
The effort to have extra officers on the road in Plainfield for the holiday is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
