I-55 Reopens After Accident That Leaves 1 Driver Dead

At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday a car vs. semi-truck accident occurred in the northbound lane on I-55 at Lockport street. Authorities are on the scene investigating.

The car was heavily damaged with one person trapped inside. Authorities say that the person inside the car has died.

The semi-truck is lying across all three northbound lanes of I-55. I-55 has been closed off between Lockport and Rt. 30. Vehicles are lined up in this area with no way to turn around.

The northbound lanes of I-55 are officially shut down for two hours at the minimum.
