PLAINFIELD, IL — A fire broke out early Monday morning at a one-story house in the 2500 block of Lockner Boulevard in unincorporated Plainfield, officials said.

Crews located the fire in the back of the house and in the attic and brought it under control, but the structure sustained "excessive smoke damage and fire damage to the attic," according to the news release.

One resident was evaluated by paramedics but declined further treatment, officials said.

Due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area, the fire alarm brought in additional resources from six fire departments, including Channahon, Joliet and Oswego. Crews from Aurora Township, Bolingbrook, Homer, Northwest Homer and Romeoville fire departments assisted with station coverage during the fire.

The Plainfield Emergency Management Agency was called to assist at the scene, and the Red Cross was brought in to help the residents, officials said.
