Fire Starts On Deck, Spreads Into Sandbank Drive House: Plainfield FD
The house was fitted with working smoke alarms, allowing crews to save "lives and the structure from more extensive damage" early Monday.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Owners of a house in the 25200 block of West Sandbank Drive were awoken early Monday morning when a fire erupted on their back deck, according to the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
Firefighters arrived at the house at 12:55 a.m. when they found the deck fire began spreading into the home. By that time, residents self-evacuated.
Oswego and Troy firefighters were called to the scene to assist Plainfield crews after the fire was upgraded to a full still alarm, which requires extra personnel. First responders brought the fire under control and located the dog, who was reunited with the homeowners.

Since the house was fitted with properly working smoke alarms, crews "saved lives and the structure from more extensive damage," officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
