Fish Fry 2022: Where To Find Lenten Meals Near Plainfield

Observing Lent or looking for a nice seafood meal? Here are some local fish fry events taking place Fridays through April.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Lent has officially begun, and with it comes the tradition of Friday fish fries.

There are several groups around town serving up delicious fried fish every Friday during the Lenten season. Whether you're an observing Christian or just a local foodie looking for a good seafood dinner, Patch has compiled a list of nearby events.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield

  • Orders can be placed from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. on Fridays and can be picked up in the Commons from 4:30-7:30 p.m. March 4, 11, 18 and 25, and April 1 and 8. Orders are carry-out only.
  • Menu options include cod plates, shrimp dishes and cheese pizza, priced between $3 and $13. Each dinner includes crispy fries.
  • Orders taken only by phone at 815-577-6673. Cash, check and credit accepted.

Plainfield Moose Lodge #2491, 16310 S. Lincoln Hwy #100, Plainfield

  • Taking place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
  • Menu includes combo meals, two-piece cod dinner with sides, and three- or eight-piece shrimp dinner with sides. All items are priced between $3.50 and $15.

Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge, 335 E. Boughton Road, Bolingbrook

  • All-you-can-eat menu includes beer-battered cod, coleslaw and a choice of side and dipping sauce for $13.95. The same meal but with added crispy shrimp costs $16.95.
  • Takes place every Friday.

Christina's Grill & Gatherings, 3516 Route 34, Oswego

  • Menu includes fried cod, haddock and other fish varieties as well as homemade chips, fries and coleslaw.
  • Taking place every Friday during Lent. Call 630-554-8905 for reservations since restaurant seating fills up.

St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School, 130 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet

  • Taking place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent.
  • Menu includes various cod, catfish or shrimp dinners as well as chicken fingers, with prices ranging from $6 to $10. Combo dinners, extras and soft drinks are also available.
  • Proceeds benefit St. Paul's Athletic Association.

Joliet American Legion Post 1080, 2625 Ingalls Ave., Joliet

  • Available to-go, curbside or dine-in every Friday, March 4 through April 15.
  • Menu includes beer-battered, baked and regular cod, salmon and whitefish dinners, combo meals, spaghetti, shrimp baskets, fried chicken and pepper egg sandwiches, priced between $4 to $18.

Lockport VFW Post 5788, 1026 E. 9th St., Lockport

  • Takes place Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Menu includes appetizers such as onion rings, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, fried mushrooms and french fries. Entrees include beer-battered Icelandic cod, Panko-crusted butterfly shrimp, or a combo meal. Prices range from $3 to $13.
  • A chicken tender dinner with choice of dipping sauce is also available for $9.
  • Orders can be placed ahead of time for a specific pickup time by calling 815-838-1066. Walk-ins for take-home and carry-out orders are also welcome. The kitchen closes at 7 p.m.
