Full-Day Kindergarten Lottery Set For February: District 202
Plainfield schools don't have enough space to offer full-day kindergarten to every student.

PLAINFIELD, IL — District 202 will once again offer its full-day kindergarten pilot program, but because there's not enough space to accommodate every student full time, a lottery will be offered — likely as soon as next month.
"District 202 still does not have enough space to provide full-day kindergarten to the 1,400 to 1,500 students projected to be eligible to attend kindergarten next year," the district said in a Facebook post on Sunday. "Therefore, District 202 will again hold a random, computerized lottery for full-day kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year. In all, 408 full-day kindergarten spaces will be awarded – 24 students at each of the district’s 17 elementary schools."
Lottery details will be available after the board votes on an attendance zoning proposal — the first major attendance boundary change in about a decade — on Jan. 22.
