A dedicated truck-driver for nearly 50 years, George lived for his family.

George H. Richner, age 72, a 48-year resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2024. He was born on February 19, 1952 in Chicago, IL.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara (nee Bucyk); his loving children, Barb (Frank) Kulhanek of Plainfield, Raymond (Kimberly ) England of Plainfield, Charles (Mary Baron) England of Plainfield, Randy (Jamie Smith) England of Joliet, and Gary (Corey Noble) England of Shorewood; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew ( fiancée Brittany Vitellaro) Kulhanek, Rachel (Tyler) Adolfs, Felicia (Joe) Rezek, Justin England, Breanna (Frankie Ramos) England, Rebecca England, Randy (Birdie) England, Raymond England, Ronald England, Kaitlyn (fiancé Jeff Adduci) England, Cody England, Jacob England, and Matthew England; his adored great-grandchildren, Kasey Rezek, Addison Rezek, Beckett Rezek, Julian Ramos, Gabby Ramos, Myla Ramos, Gideon England, Grayson England and Memphis England; his dear siblings, Robert (Linda) Richner, Trevetta (Richard) Cook, Olivia Richner, Denise (Jeff) Babcock, and Diane (Michael) Hendrix; fond sister-in-law, JoAnn Wicks; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marion Richner; his brother, Mark (Gail) Richner; and his granddaughters, Khloe England and Grace England.

George grew up in Chicago. He met his wife Barbara, and they lived briefly in Lockport before settling to raise the family in Plainfield. He dedicated nearly 50 years as a truck-driver, travelling countless accident-free miles, before retiring in 2021. Throughout his life, George loved all kinds of puzzles and gathering for family game nights. He enjoyed being outside and was extremely proud of his yard. Family was George’s greatest reward in life. He treasured being a loving husband and dad, “Papa” to his grandkids, and Saturday morning coffee with his sons and brother. George will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of George’s life will begin on Friday, September 27, 10:00 AM at the funeral home with interment following at the Plainfield Township Cemetery.
