Jerry owned Koaches Korner, a sporting goods store in Bellwood and Downers Grove and was a Manager for Transport Drivers, Bensenville.

Gerald “Jerry” Mastro, age 82, U.S. Army veteran, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL from 1979 – 2015, formerly of Chicago and Bellwood IL, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home in Plainfield, IL. He was born on February 9, 1943, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved husband of Frances V. "Fran" Mastro (née Block), whom he married on June 11, 1966, loving father of Michele (Mike) Strang of Plainfield, Sandy Richards of Plainfield, Nick (Kimberly) Mastro of Oswego, IL and Lori (Doug) Paxson of Park Ridge, IL, adored grandfather of Michael (Mary) Strang, Nicole (Joe) Wachs and Courtney Strang; Jessica (Christopher) Fernandez; Ryan and Jamie Mastro; Devin, Demi and Hailey Paxson, devoted son of the late Nick and Rose (née Cardinallo) Mastro, dear brother of the late Jack (the late Marilyn) Mastro, brother-in-law of Charlotte (Tom) Keller and the late Allen (the late Sue) Block, fond cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend to many.
Jerry grew up in Bellwood and was a graduate of Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, served in the Army National Guard and was drafted into the U.S. Army in March 1966 during the Vietnam War, was stationed in Germany and received his honorable discharge in October 1967. An athlete, Jerry wrestled and played football in high school, and in the Army, and was invited to try out for the New York Jets football team. Over the years, Jerry was employed as a Bellwood firefighter, owned and operated Koaches Korner, a sporting goods store in Bellwood and Downers Grove and was a Manager for Transport Drivers in Bensenville, IL.

Jerry was a former member of St. Simeon Catholic Church in Bellwood and was a current member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Naperville. Jerry loved playing golf and was a member of the Naperville Country Club. He coached youth Little League Baseball and played many years of 16" softball.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 1, 11:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, 2003 Hassert Blvd. (corner of 111th St. & Book Rd.), Naperville, IL 60564.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, 2:00 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421, (815) 423-9958 for committal services and military honors.
