Giambotta Pizza On Lockport Closing, Looks To Reopen Elsewhere
A downtown Plainfield favorite, Giambotta Pizza Co. will look for a new space following the closure of its Lockport Street spot on Jan. 30.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Another downtown Plainfield business will be no more after January. Giambotta Pizza Co., a Lockport Street favorite since 2019, announced Tuesday it would close its doors at the end of the month.
In a letter to their followers on Facebook, restaurant owners said the restaurant's last day in business will be Jan. 30. To mark the occasion, people are invited to dine in, grab a bottle of natural wine and watch Stanley Tucci and Campbell Scott's 1996 film "Big Night."
"This restaurant was a dream for me," reads a statement from owner Dario Rovito. "To have been able to bring what I love and care about to a table for you is something I’ll never take for granted."

While the restaurant will close its doors on Lockport Street, owners said they're looking for a new home for Giambotta. Patch reached out for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication.
"Sometimes it was difficult, but we are grateful and proud of our years here," the message reads. "As we look for our new home, I want to thank everyone for everything here. We’ll miss everyone who got us, drank wine with us, ate with us and became our friends and family."

The news was met with sadness and comments of love for the Italian eatery.
"My husband and I just discovered this gem a few months ago and fell in love with it!" one person wrote. "So sorry to see you go, the food and atmosphere were great!"
"We loved having you around and wish you the best of luck wherever you go," someone else said. "You make outstanding food and have always made us feel more than welcome anytime. I am so sad for this to end here, but hope that we can continue to see you around."
Another person asked for updates on a new location: "Please keep us updated when you find a new spot. And you better find a new spot. I don’t think I can live without your pizza."
Another restaurant-goer, who wrote this is the "worst news ever," wondered where they'll go for their future date nights once the restaurant closes.
Specializing in Neapolitan-style pizza, natural wine and fried Italian street food, Giambotta makes Italian food with Italian ingredients — and it evolved as it went.
"We try to be honest about what we do and don’t do," the restaurant's website says. "We try to get better all the time. The restaurant now is so so much different than it was when we first opened."
For customers looking to dine in a Giambotta sister restaurant, Capri Sogno, serving classic Italian fare, is located just down the street, at 24102 W. Lockport St.
