Grinch Returns To Plainfield Christmas Tree Lighting

Dr. Seuss' classic character will be part of "Grinchmas on the Green" at Village Green Park.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Dr. Seuss’ classic story "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will come to life on Nov. 24 when Village Green Park transforms in to the fictional town of Whoville for the Plainfield Park District’s annual Grinchmas on the Green. The event is part of the Park District and Plainfield Chamber of Commerce’s Heart of Christmas taking place from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in the village’s historic downtown.

Park district events for the day will include a visit from the Grinch and Scout (the district mascot), a Christmas tree lighting as well as a showing of the classic cartoon "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" —enough fun to make even the Grinchiest heart grow three sizes in one day.

As you wait for the Grinch’s arrival, families can check out Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations on display throughout Village Green Park and stay warm with free hot cocoa and cookies (while supplies last).
