Grinchmas Christmas Tree Lighting at Village Green Park Nov. 30

The Grinch and Santa will kick start the holiday season with a Christmas tree lighting celebration at Village Green Park on Nov. 30.

The Grinch returns to the Plainfield Park District’s Village Green Park on November 30 for the annual ‘Grinchmas on the Green’ tree lighting celebration.

The event is part of the Park District and Plainfield Chamber of Commerce’s Heart of Christmas taking place from 4-9 p.m. in the Village of Plainfield’s downtown shopping district.

Park District events for the day will include a visit from the Grinch, Santa, Park District Mascot Scout, a Christmas tree lighting as well as a screening of the holiday cartoon classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Free hot chocolate and cookies will be available (as supplies last.)

Residents can also view the Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations that will be on display throughout Village Green Park.

Christmas trees for display at the event are on sale through Nov. 15 on the District’s website, plfdparks.org.

The lineup of Park District festivities will include:

  • 5 p.m.: Tree lighting by the Grinch and Santa
  • 5:15 p.m. – 6:15p: Pictures with the Grinch and Santa

· 5:30 p.m.: Screening of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
