Gunshots Hit Lakewood Falls House On Thanksgiving: Will County Sheriff

Bullet holes were also found inside the home in the couch and drywall. Ten shell casings were found near the home.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A shooting took place at a house in the Lakewood Falls subdivision on Thanksgiving Day. Details of the incident were shared in the Will County Sheriff's Office's blotter Monday.

Deputies responded to the 22000 block of West Lakeland Trail, in unincorporated Plainfield, after receiving a call reporting shots fired. At the house, a witness said they heard several gunshots and watched as a man ran west on Lakeland Trail toward Budler Road, according to the blotter.

The house's front window, garage door, gutters and front door were damaged from the gunfire. Inside, bullet holes were found in the couch and drywall.

In total, deputies found 10 shell casings at the house, which was unoccupied when the shooting happened, though residents arrived home "shortly after," officials said.

It's the second time the house was "targeted," Kathy Hoffmeyer, a Will County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, told Patch. The first incident occurred earlier in the month, on Nov. 1, resulting in a 44-year-old woman being injured by shrapnel.
