PLAINFIELD, IL — Get ready to be spooked this Halloween season as haunted hayrides and pony rides return to the Plainfield Park District Oct. 21-23.

Guests will experience "bone-chilling thrills abound on this spooky fun-filled hayride" on the trail at Eaton Preserve, 23604 W. 135th St., Oct. 21-22 before haunted pony rides take place the following day.

At Normantown Equestrian Center, 12151 S. Normantown Road, children are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes and take a 10-minute ride on a dressed-up pony. Organizers recommend families bring their cameras to capture the moment.

Since not everyone can stomach scares, the park district is offering both scary and non-scary haunted hayrides. Family-friendly rides will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. both days while scary rides will run from 6:30-8 p.m.

As of Tuesday, most scary and non-scary hayrides are booked, but the park district opened waitlists for filled slots. It's best to sign up before the event is entirely filled.
