Hoganson Heroes Big Serve Event Donates Snack Baskets to Plainfield Cancer Center

A Big Serve event called the Hoganson Heroes prepared food/snack baskets for the Plainfield Cancer Center.

The food/snack baskets are for patients receiving chemo treatments and their loved ones who attend treatments with them. We have learned that when patients are receiving treatment, they would like a little snack to enjoy. 15 baskets were made and they where presented to the center with Mayor Collins last Thursday at 11:15. The Plainfield Cancer Center was thrilled.

Here is the story of Kathy Hoganson and The Hoganson Heroes……

Kathy Hoganson – Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Daughter, Sister-in-Law, and Best friend to the world.
Kathy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, where she fought hard, and long through all of the treatments of that time, and the side effects, conquering IT’ after approximately 2 plus years.
Unfortunately, IT’ has come back after 20+ years with vengeance metastasizing to her bone surfaces, i.e. spine, pelvis, shoulder area, and some small nodules on her liver and lungs.
Kathy has taken this round hard, but yet with a very positive approach to the Medicine, and treatment, with different side effects that she seems to be able to handle better.
Through all of this Kathy’s priorities are her grandchildren, her husband, and most of all, ALL her friends whom she continues to organize activities with, share great times with, and plans future activities, even though we don’t know the actual future timeline.
Her outlooks are always positive, she supports the local Plainfield Cancer Center with huge smiles, and positive attitude during treatments, even this year helping with creating snack baskets with a generous donation from our local Sam’s Club, as she is always thinking of others!!
She is precious, and every day is a bonus for ALL OF US!!!! We appreciate every moment with her!!!
Kathy attends the Plainfield Cancer Center for chemo treatment, and it is a very busy place, while some snacks are provided, Kathy thought why not offer even more healthy type treats, and snacks, so she came up with a great BIG SERVE moment/project. For this project, gift baskets are going to be filled with snacks and goodies. These gift baskets will provide a healthy snack for the patients who attend treatment throughout the week.
