Hungry for a Good Deal? Plainfield Eatery to be Part of Restaurant Week

If you're a foodie on a budget or you just love to save money, you'll want to mark your calendars for the the first-ever Joliet Area Restaurant Week.

The inaugural event brings together good deals and great eats at more than a dozen restaurants throughout the Heritage Corridor, including Joliet, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Lockport, Shorewood and Morris.

"We wanted to make it a special event -- it's a discount you wouldn't normally get," said Dan Mulka, marketing manager for the Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).

CVB staff recruited a wide range of area restaurants offering everything from steak to seafood, pub grub, Asian cuisine and farm-to-table fare for the Feb. 17 to 26 restaurant "week."

"We wanted to make sure we had that variety," said Mulka. "We wanted to showcase the area and showcase its diversity, and part of that diversity is its restaurants."

Each business with serve up deals to allow diners to get a taste of what the local restaurant community has to offer.

"If you're paying full menu price, you might not be able to try more than one restaurant," Mulka said. "This way, you might get to try something you've never had before."
