Illinois Among Best States For Teachers

The Prairie State ranked high on the list for best places to be a teacher.

ILLINOIS — For all its school funding woes, there's some good news when it comes to education in Illinois. According to consumer finance site WalletHub, Illinois is the fourth-best state in the nation to be a teacher.

WalletHub says it compared 22 key indicators of teacher-friendliness, adding, "Our data set ranges from teachers’ income growth potential to pupil-teacher ratio to teacher safety."

Coming in at No. 1 was New York, while Hawaii — despite its reputation for being one of the happiest statesin the nation — came in dead last.

Illinois ranked No. 4 overall and was No. 2 for highest annual salaries adjusted for cost of living.
