Illinois Among Most Fun States In America
Our weather may be unpredictable, but that doesn't mean there's not a shortage of fun things to do in the Land of Lincoln.

ILLINOIS — A new ranking from consumer finance site WalletHub ranks the Land of Lincoln among the most fun states in the country. Illinois came in at No. 5 on the list, thanks to its abundance of great restaurants, performing arts theaters and venues like golf courses, country clubs and amusement parks.
"With pure enjoyment in mind, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 26 key indicators of a jolly good time that won’t break the bank," the site noted. "They range from movie costs to accessibility of national parks to casinos per capita."
Here's how Illinois scored, with 1 being the most fun and 25 being average:

- 11th – Movie Theaters per Capita
- 10th – Golf Courses & Country Clubs per Capita
- 16th – Amusement Parks per Capita
- 3rd – Performing-Arts Theaters per Capita
- 8th – Fitness Centers per Capita
- 30th – Casinos per Capita
- 19th – Variety of Arts, Entertainment & Recreation Establishments
California ranked as the most fun state, followed by New York, Nevada, Florida and Illinois. The least fun state? According to WalletHub, that dubious honor goes to West Virginia.
