Information Session on Park District Bond Referendum set for October 25

The community is invited to attend a public meeting on October 25, 11a at the Plainfield Township Community Center

The Plainfield Park District Board passed, at their August board meeting, to seek a bond referendum to replace expiring referendum bonds from 2001. The question is to be featured on the November election ballot.

The community is invited to attend a public meeting on October 25, 11 a.m. at the Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S DesPlaines Street, Plainfield. This community information session is to discuss, if approved, what the District will do with the funds and how the referendum will affect the taxpayer. All comments, suggestions and questions are welcomed.

The referendum as it appears on the ballot is:

Shall the Plainfield Township Park District, Will and Kendall Counties, Illinois, improve neighborhood parks, improve and equip parks and park facilities, and build and equip a new recreation center and improve the site thereof and issue its bonds to the amount of $10,500,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?

So, what does that mean? According to the Park District, approval will allow for the following projects:

• Approximately a $6.5 million dollar recreation center

• Ball field lighting at selected fields

• Neighborhood park safety/lighting improvements

• Capital improvements to various park locations as identified by the 2015 Comprehensive Master Plan

As a tax payer, you will be affected in the following ways:

• No tax rate increase

• Rate would remain same or go lower

• Park District would be able to provide new amenities, repairs, replacements and a recreation center
