James A. "Jim" Jeropke, age 68, a Plainfield, IL resident since 2000, formerly of Chicago and Bolingbrook, IL
Jim was employed as a Building Engineer for many years and was a member of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers.

James A. "Jim" Jeropke, age 68, a Plainfield, IL resident since 2000, formerly of Chicago and Bolingbrook, IL, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 7, 1957, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved husband of Catherine M. “Cathy” Jeropke (nee Zamb), loving father of Nick (Shannon) Jeropke of Berwyn, IL and Sarah (Andy) Zurales of Shorewood, IL, adored Pop Pop of Clara and Baby J Jeropke; Andrew, Connie, Hannah and Teddy Zurales, devoted son of the late Anton and Jeanne (nee Voght) Jeropke, son-in-law of the late Lorraine and Charles Zamb, dear brother of Donna (the late Renald) Svejda, Bobby (the late Betty) Jeropke, Nancy (Royal) Kunze, Linda (Ed) Keating and the late Gerald (Michelle) Jeropke, brother-in-law of Peggy Reeb, Mary (John) Thompson, Rita Conrad, Anne Stringham and the late William Zamb, godfather to John Kunze, Ed Keating, Rachel Conrad and Emily Thompson, fond cousin, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and friend of many.
Jim grew up in Chicago’s South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood and was a parishioner at Saint Basil Catholic Church. He was a 1975 graduate of De La Salle High School and earned a BS in Marketing at Arizona State University in Tempe where he played on the rugby team. Jim’s “claim to fame” was to have brought the “bandana look” from Arizona to Chicago when he returned home from college.

Jim was humble, a quiet man who wanted no attention. Jim found joy in his family's successes. He was the physical and emotional strength behind the Jeropke family, always cheering and encouraging. It was Jim’s strength and support that gave his family the courage and confidence to grow and experience life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, 1:00-5:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd. (Corners of Rt. 59 and Rt. 30), Plainfield, IL 60544.
Services will begin Monday, September 22, 10:00 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield, IL 60544.
Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield.
