Janet Marie Anderson, 85, of Plainfield

Former President of the Plainfield Library Board and champion of all things Plainfield, Janet passed away on January 2, 2025.

Janet Marie Anderson (nee Zimmerman) passed on Friday, January 3, at the age of 85.

Still in Plainfield where her family has a long history of supporting the community, she made her impact through her time as President of the Plainfield Library Board during which time she was vigilant about keeping the public library in town. She enjoyed teaching young adults at Indian Trail Middle School; and in general, she gave back when and where she could. As a talented and creative person, she worked with Steiner’s Bridal back in the day to create wedding veils and touched many lives through her generosity such as making elaborate costumes for the madrigals at Plainfield Central High School in the 80s, helping with charity organizations, and so much more. Her home was her canvas where she gardened and decorated; and in general, she left everything better than she found it. She was funny and beautiful and lovely.

She is survived by her husband James “Jim” Anderson; her children, Robert “Bob” Anderson and his wife Mary, William “Bill” Anderson and his wife Alise, and Jennifer “Jen” Anderson. She was the proud grandmother of Erik, Bradley and Kirsten (children of Bob Anderson), Alexandra and Jacob (children of Bill Anderson), and Ely and Samuel Anderson (children of deceased son Daniel “Dan” Anderson) and three great-grandchildren (children of Erik and child of Ely) as well. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Anderson, and her parents William (Bill) and Hazel Zimmerman (Zimmerman’s Paint and Glass) and brother Charles “Chuck” Zimmerman from Plainfield as well.
