Jewel, Mariano's And More: Thanksgiving 2017 Grocery Store Hours

PLAINFIELD, IL — Despite the days of preparation and assigning different family members to bring their special dishes to the Thanksgiving feast, it's inevitable that someone will still have to race to the store for last-minute purchases of dinner rolls, whipped cream, potatoes, wine or stuffing mix. Which grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23? And how about Black Friday in case you need to stock up for a house full of guests?

Some food stores in the region are open on Thanksgiving, but some close early, so check on individual stores for their hours. The day after, most return to normal operating hours. Other chains, including ALDI and Costco, are closed for the holiday. (See full list below.)

To help you know your go-to stores over the upcoming holiday, we have open and closed hours for stores, plus links to their websites. Here's a list of Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours for local grocery chains.

In Plainfield, Jewel-Osco store hours as follows:

• Route 59 and 135th Street: Open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
• Route 59 and Caton Farm Road: Open 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving

Peter Rubi will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Here's a look at some regional chain grocery store hours:

• Jewel-Osco: Hours at other area locations vary, so check the website for the store nearest you. Most locations, including 24-hour stores, will close early on Thanksgiving.
• Mariano's: 6a.m.-3 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
• Meijer: Open 24 hours, special Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals start at 6 a.m. each day.
• Whole Foods: Hours vary by store. Most suburban locations are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., although some open at 7 a.m.
• Trader Joe's: All stores closed on Thanksgiving.
• Costco: All stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
• Sam's Club: All stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
• Walmart: Stores will be open as usual on Thanksgiving Day and will unveil Black Friday deals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.
• Target: Stores open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and close at midnight; stores re-open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
