Obituary: Kara Welsh, 21

Kara Welsh, 21, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away on August 31, 2024, in Whitewater, WI. She was born on December 26, 2002, in Hinsdale, IL, to Thomas and Nancy (nee Ferrallo) Welsh.

Kara leaves behind her loving parents, her adoring sister Kaeli, and devoted grandparent Therese. She is also survived by her teammates, friends, and many extended family members.

Kara grew up in Plainfield, IL and attended Indian Trail Middle School and Plainfield Central High School, class of 2021. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in Whitewater WI, where she studied Business Management.

Kara was a talented and devoted gymnast. She competed for Aspire Gymnastics Academy in vault, bars, beam, and floor. In 2021, she competed for Region 5 at Nationals. At college she competed in vault and floor, winning a regional and national title in 2023, as well as an additional regional title in 2024.

Kara enjoyed making people laugh, lifting weights, and being a collegiate gymnast.

Kara will be remembered as a warm and loving woman who made friends everywhere she went. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and family. The world will be a darker place without her presence.

In lieu of flowers, donations to New Beginnings in Walworth County, Wisconsin would be appreciated.

The Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Overman Jones Funeral Home, 15219 Joliet Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544. The Mass will be on Friday, September 13th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Church. Interment will be at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery in Plainfield IL.
