Labor Day Enforcement Yields 207 Tickets: Plainfield Police
The Plainfield Police Department's enforcement campaign for Labor Day lasted two weeks, ending Sept. 5.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department's Labor Day enforcement campaign yielded a total of 207 tickets, officials said Thursday.
The two-week-long campaign kicked off Aug. 18 and ran through the early hours of Sept. 5. The focus of the effort was seat belt usage and driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances, but police also placed extra emphasis on speeding and distracted driving, Patch reported.

- 67 occupant restraint citations
- 101 speeding citations
- 39 other citations
Police also made seven arrests for driver's license issues and two for warrants.
"Through the Labor Day enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and reminded motorists that obeying traffic laws helps save lives," Traffic Sergeant Eric Munson wrote in a news release.

Plainfield police partnered with Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies for the campaign paid for using funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
