The public is invited to learn more about Illinois history and Irish immigrants on Thursday, March 10 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Learn About the I&M Canal at Plainfield Library Program “Irish History in Songs” on March 10

Community members are invited to learn more about their state’s history and Irish immigrants at the Great Read program, “Irish History in Songs,” on Thursday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Plainfield Library, located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in downtown Plainfield.

Participants will get to listen to popular Irish pub songs, sly jokes and soft airs and dance tunes at this event. Lee Murdock will lead the program and teach attendees about the history of Irish immigrants and the laborers who built the Illinois and Michigan Canal.
