Those researching their family histories can attend a genealogy program about lost World War I military records on May 21.

Those researching their family histories can attend a genealogy program about lost World War I military records on Saturday, May 21 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Plainfield Public Library, located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in downtown Plainfield.

During this program, Librarian Tina Beaird will share ways to potentially recreate WWI documents that were lost during a fire at the National Archives in the 1970s. Beaird will share various locations where the records may still live, including local courthouses, state and federal archives and military bases. She will also show participants how to utilize other sources like camp newspapers, company histories and unit photos.

For more information, or to register for this program, please visit the Library’s online calendar at www.plainfieldpubliclibrary.org or call 815-327-2515.
