Letter To The Editor: 850 People Helped By Plainfield Lions

PLAINFIELD, IL — The following letter to the editor was submitted by Larry Wiers, Plainfield Lions Christmas "basket" chairman.

"Thank You!"

On behalf of the Plainfield Lions Club, I would like to extend a big "thank you" to the following people who helped make our recent Christmas "Basket" program a success. 160 families and 850 people were helped with $34,200 of Jewel gift cards because of your efforts! The Plainfield Lions have now given $341,000 in groceries to Plainfield area residents over the past 23 years.

• Karen Hamilton, Pauline Herbst, Lion Tod Schnowske and local churches for their role in generating and verifying our family list.
• Lion Tom Bowen for once again offering his hospitality and his shop for delivery headquarters.
• Karrie and Max Racutt for their valuable clerical assistance.
• Margie Bonuchi for her efforts in generating significant community donations.
• Friends of Charitable Giving (Plainfield Giving Gala) for their inspirational gift of $7,500.
• Our 17 community donors who gave $10,130. Our very special benefactors, Catherine Fletcher, Lion Larry Loethen, Lion Joanne Baker, Lion Bob and Sandy Lambert, T.R.
