Community members are invited to attend a program about the Candy Capital of America – Chicago, on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Plainfield Public Library, located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in Plainfield. This program is put on as a part of The Great Read.

Great Read programs are hosted every year by several local libraries and other organizations that promote reading and culture. This year’s theme is “Made in Illinois.”

At this program, attendees will learn the history behind the tasty treats, and explore what made Chicago such a powerful location for candymakers. Participants will be able to win prizes such as Leslie Goddard’s book, “Chicago’s Sweet Candy History,” and taste candy samples.
