Lincoln Elementary Assistant Principal To Lead Wesmere Next Year

Dr. Debra Coberley will make the move on July 1.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- Lincoln Elementary School Assistant Principal Dr. Debra Coberley will take over as principal at Wesmere Elementary School on July 1.

Coberley will replace current Principal Denise Vershay, who is retiring.

“Dr. Coberley’s varied experiences within District 202 will be extremely beneficial to the students and staff at Wesmere,” said Scott Fink, director of elementary administration and personnel.

“Deb’s curricular knowledge, instructional leadership, and ability to build positive relationships within the community will serve her well as the new Principal at Wesmere Elementary School,” he said.

Coberley started her education career in 2000 teaching fifth grade in Des Moines, Iowa. She came to District 202 in 2002 as a fourth-grade teacher at River View Elementary.

She moved to Creekside Elementary and taught fourth grade from 2004-2008, and served another year at Creekside as a differentiation specialist, before moving to Central Elementary in 2009 as a reading specialist. She has been Lincoln’s assistant principal since 2014.

Coberley said she is excited and honored to be joining the Wesmere community.

“This school has outstanding students and families and a dedicated staff that is committed to the pursuit of excellence,” Coberley said. “I am thankful that I will be able to call Wesmere my new home.”
