Local Girl Scout Raises Money for ADA Swings for Plainfield Park District
Thanks to the hard work of Rachael Lau, a local girl scout who raised money for the new ADA swings.

Recently the Plainfield Park District installed a new ADA swing at Bott Park, 24550 W. Renwick Rd., Plainfield and has purchased a new ADA swing for Northwest Community Park, 127th St. Plainfield, thanks to the hard work of Rachael Lau, a local girl scout who raised money for the new swings.
Lau, a Girl Scout Ambassador working on her gold award, commented in a recent email to the Park District “The goal of the project is to identify and problem within the community and independently find a way to fix it.” Lau also included that “I am a huge advocate for children with mental and physical disabilities. I researched the parks within Plainfield and found that several were not designed to be safe for children with mental and physical disabilities. For that reason, I [wanted] to modify a playground in Plainfield to make it handicap-friendly for children.”
Lau sold T-shirts to help raise money for the new swings. The new ADA swing for Northwest Community Park will be installed sometime this July with a formal ribbon cutting to thank Rachael for her hard work in the community.
