Homicide Victim's Identity Released By Plainfield Police

The 19-year-old was fatally shot late Wednesday on Renwick Road.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A 19-year-old Plainfield man was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds late Wednesday night in what officials are calling a homicide, according to Plainfield police.

Officials identified him as Anthony R. Saucedo.

Officers responded to the parking lot of the Prairie Activity and Recreation Center, at 24550 W. Renwick Road, around 9:55 p.m. after receiving a call reporting shots fired. Police assessed the man, and "it was readily apparent he was deceased," officials said.

Paramedics from the Plainfield Fire Protection District arrived and confirmed life-saving measures weren't possible, police said.

Police have opened a criminal investigation into the fatal shooting. Commander Anthony Novak told Patch police don't believe the shooting is random, but "preliminary investigation supports that this is an isolated incident and the location was not specifically targeted."

According to the Will County Coroner's Office, an autopsy performed Thursday will determine Saucedo's final cause and manner of death.
