Memorial Day Enforcement Yields 44 Tickets: Plainfield Police
Officers issued the citations — and made two arrests — during the two-week campaign encompassing Memorial Day.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police released Wednesday the results of their Memorial Day enforcement campaign, revealing the campaign yielded a total of 44 tickets.
Officers issued tickets for the following offenses:
- 35 seat belt
- 3 suspended or revoked licenses
- 2 child car seat
- 2 speeding
- 1 cell phone usage
- 1 uninsured driver
Officers also made two arrests, one offense a felony and the other a misdemeanor.

The Plainfield Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other local law enforcement agencies for the campaign that lasted May 16-25.
Officials said the campaign’s “success reflects law enforcement’s commitment to roadway safety and reinforces the message that buckling up saves lives.”

“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives," Sergeant Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "Every citation and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work."
