Michael J. “Mike” Partekel, age 64, a resident of Joliet, IL

Michael J. “Mike” Partekel, age 64, U.S. Army veteran, resident of Joliet, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born on February 13, 1961, in Chicago.

Beloved husband of Kim Partekel (nee Steiner), whom he married on October 19, 1986, beloved father of Michaleen, Andrea (Mario) and Alex (Mark), adored Papa of Avery, Allison, Julia, Luca, Nico and Henry, devoted son of the late Dennis and Rosalie (nee Bertucci) Partekel, dear brother of the late Linda Beck, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend of many. Mike will be missed by Oliver and Gracie, his dogs.

Michael grew up in the Midway area of Chicago and graduated from Curie High School in 1980. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation where he worked as a Highway Maintainer, Emergency Traffic Control (“Minuteman”) and Weight Enforcement Officer. He was an avid car enthusiast who liked to purchase a new car every year. The biggest supporter and cheerleader of his daughters and grandchildren. He would drop everything to jump in and help in any way. He will be missed beyond measure.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, 4:00-7:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 Joliet Rd. (Corner of Rt. 30 and Rt. 59), Plainfield, IL 60544.

A celebration of Mike's life will follow on Monday, 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
