Michigan Man Stole Mom's Car, Crashed It Twice In Plainfield: Cops
He was trying to make it to California but only got as far as 143rd and Van Dyke.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- A Michigan man trying to make it to California in his mother's car only got as far as Plainfield, police said.
Alonzo Raymond-Walker, 21, of 938 Backus St. in Jackson, Michigan, was arrested after two alleged hit and run crashes Wednesday morning.
Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher said police responded to a report of a hit and run at 7:45 a.m. at Route 59 and 143rd Street. When they got there, they learned the suspect vehicle was believed to be at 143rd Street and Van Dyke Road, where it was involved in another crash.

"The driver tried to take the corner too fast while fleeing from the first accident," Fisher said.
The man behind the wheel, identified as Raymond-Walker, attempted to flee on foot when he saw the cops, but quickly surrendered, according to Fisher.

"They yelled at him to stop and he knew he was had, so he stopped," Fisher said. No injuries were reported in either crash, according to police.
Raymond-Walker was taken into custody and police learned the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen by his mother in Michigan.
"He was on his way to California," Fisher said. "Unfortunately, he didn't make it."
Raymond-Walker was charged with receiving/possession of a stolen vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and obstruction of justice/destroying evidence. He was also wanted on a warrant in Michigan.
He remained in custody on $50,000 bond as of Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
