PLAINFIELD, IL - A military dad wanted to see his kids, so he found a clever way to do it without his kids finding out first.

Staff Sgt. Christopher McSpadden, who is stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, worked closely with the school principal of Charles Reed Elementary School to send a “fake” video message during the school's recent Veterans Day program.

"I want to send a big shout out to my three wonderful children, Triston, Rylan and Micaelah McSpadden," Staff Sgt. Christopher McSpadden said in the video. "I really wish I could be there for you guys today for Veterans Day, but unfortunately I cannot. I want to give a big 'thank you' for all of the parents, all the children as well as the veterans that are there. Thank you for all of your support."

After the video ended, the military dad entered the school gym and was immediately greeted by cheers and applause from the audience.

Of course, it wasn't not long before his own children recognized him. Without hesitation, they ran to greet their dad from the stands.
