Morse Expected to Miss Tonight's Meeting on Township Center

Instead, Morse will attend the township planning commission meeting at which a public hearing for E.F. Heil's proposed construction recycling facility will be held, the Naperville Sun reported.

Wheatland Township Supervisor Todd Morse is not expected to be at when residents vote on plans for a new township hall location, according to a Naperville Sun report.

Instead, Morse reportedly will attend the township planning commission meeting at which a public hearing for will be held, the Naperville Sun reported.

It's anticipated that residents attending tonight's meeting will permanently reject plans to build a $1.5 million township hall, which Morse and the township board were set to approve less than four months ago.

Other options, including leasing existing space, buying an existing buillding and renovating the existing town hall, are all on the table.

Morse remains a strong supporter of the new building, and it's not clear why he would choose not to attend the meeting and speak on the plan's behalf. Morse did not respond to Plainfield Patch's requests for comment.

Laurie McPhillips, chairman of the planning commission, said there was no reason the two meetings had to be held on the same night. Had the schedule been arranged differently, Morse could have attended both gatherings.

She said she has no idea why the public hearing date was chosen other than “it was the first day after the posting requirements we could have the public comment.”

The planning commission is expected to make a recommendation on the recycling center, which will go to the township board for a vote at a later date.

Correction: In a previous version of this story, the reporter led readers to believe that Brenda Morse, wife of Wheatland Township Supervisor Todd Morse, had been contacted for a comment about her role and did not respond. Instead, the reported actions of Brenda Morse were unverified. Plainfield Patch regrets the errors.
